The Ultimate Guide to Planning Your Summer Wedding

With the lovely warm weather, blooming flowers and stunning themes, there’s no wonder the summer season is the most popular time to have a wedding.

From June to August, weddings are extremely popular, therefore standing out from the crowd and creating a personalised experience to make your big day perfect can be hard to navigate.

We have created a list of tips and tricks that will make your summer wedding reach its full potential.

Outdoor Venue

Possibly the biggest benefit from having your wedding in the summer is the good weather, allowing you to have your ceremony outside in the sun!

Keep in mind that the UK weather can be unpredictable therefore researching the exact weather for your desired date is essential.

There are thousands of different venues with beautiful gardens and greenery to make your picture-perfect wedding.

Bright Colours

Bright and colourful fits the summer ‘vibe’ perfectly, creating a fun, playful, atmosphere for your wedding.

So how do you incorporate colour into your wedding?

Bridesmaid dresses, groomsmen and decorations are the key to incorporating colour in a classy way to your wedding.

Whether it be pink, blue or even yellow, adding little hints of colour to your entourage’s dresses and suits will make a huge difference to the overall look of your wedding. As the majority of brides will wear white, it’s nice to add hints of colour through other aspects of the wedding.

Decorations for the tables alongside colourful flowers are another great way to add colour to your wedding in a tasteful way.

Light Makeup Looks

Feeling beautiful on your big day is extremely important and for weddings, most brides prefer the ‘natural soft glam,’ rather than a ‘full glam’ look.

A big factor to consider, when having a summer wedding, is how the heat could affect your beautiful makeup look. Therefore we have listed 3 tips to help create (and keep) the perfect natural wedding look.

  • Use A Primer – primers are used to set a base for your makeup before any further products are applied. They also are used to help your makeup stay on longer. This is why for a summer wedding, using a primer before your look is essential, ensuring your makeup won’t melt off in the heat.
  • Foundation Alternatives: If you wanted a ‘full glam’ look for your wedding then foundation would be needed, however, to achieve a light makeup look, we would not recommend using foundation as it does not give off a natural finish. Instead, a BB/CC cream is ideal. These products are almost like tinted moisturisers, they will give you a smooth base whilst still adding a little coverage.
  • Water-Proof Products: From your base products to your mascara, we recommend using waterproof products on your big day. Why? Well waterproof products are better for longevity as they have ingredients that are made to keep your makeup intact. They also will deter you from sweating off your makeup in the heat!

Outdoor Entertainment

Whether it be an outside bar, outdoor games or outdoor music the options for outdoor entertainment are endless when it comes to summer weddings!

Take advantage of the good weather. Your wedding is a once in a lifetime experience, therefore, you should make the most out of the whole day. Outside entertainment can be the best type of entertainment as it allows all generations to enjoy.

Garden games like giant Jenga and croquet can be a great way to entertain your guests at a low cost. This type of entertainment is great if you have any children attending your wedding.

For the adults, an outside bar can be great for a summer wedding. This allows parties to socialize whilst appreciating the beautiful scenery. Other great alternatives to a bar could be an outside sweet stand or even an ice cream truck.

So there you have it! By incorporating outdoor venues, bright colours, outdoor entertainment and more you will be well on your way to having the wedding of your dreams!
