My Time In the Wedding Industry

Hi, I’m Lynsey of ‘Made Up By Lynsey’, I am a fully qualified/ insured makeup artist with over 10 years’ experience. I have a home studio in Billericay which is my little room of ‘dreams’ – I mean what girl hasn’t dreamed of their own room full of makeup as a child?

I specialise in bridal and special occasion makeup, focusing on natural looks that enhance the best features of my brides and clients. My aim is to create a relaxed and enjoyable experience from day 1.

I’m proud to say that in 2020 I won a regional award from The Wedding Business Awards for Bridal Makeup. I absolutely love my job and meeting new people, it really is an honour to be selected to be part of someone’s wedding day and each wedding is never ‘just’ a wedding, each is individual and treated as so.

I have always had a love for art and being creative, I used to paint all the time and studied it back in school, I feel that it was a natural progression to move into makeup artistry. I love being able to create looks just from talking to clients about what they like or being able to know what colour suits from just skin tone or eye colour.

I qualified in 2010 and have never looked back, my passion for makeup isn’t just about making people look good, I have realised over the years that when you look good, you feel good. To be able to provide that confidence is just another element that makes my work worthwhile. I hope to train more in ‘camouflage makeup’ which is more for burns and scarring, which would be so rewarding to be able to help others that have suffered.

I have always been a people person and I love meeting new clients, brides, bridal parties, mums etc. Many of my past brides will tell you that the title ‘Makeup Artist’ doesn’t stop there on the wedding day, from childcare, dress fitting, umbrella holder -you name it I have probably helped, but that’s what I enjoy the most!

I am very lucky to say that I am in contact with 90% of my past brides and a lot of clients have turned into friends over the years.

Another bonus is that I get to work with some amazing suppliers and venues, having connections helps a lot as you can advise brides if they need help with anything. I also work with some amazing hairstylists and photographers, I love it when I find out who I’m working with at a wedding and its someone I  work with often – its like an ‘industry family’ – plus its always good to be able to honestly recommend people.

I cover the whole of Essex and I am fully mobile for weddings, there aren’t many wedding venues that I haven’t worked at in Essex but I guarantee at least once or twice a year someone books in with a hidden gem that I haven’t heard of or been to before – which I love! I am also doing more destination weddings, which obviously speaks for itself, how amazing to be able to travel to another country with your bride, that trust is everything!
